New hole measurements
A GPS was used today to get more accurate distance measurements for each of the 9 holes. This seemed the best way to try and validate the distances of the current tee signs (which in some cases refer to different tee/basket placements and/or done as approximations). Below are the new distance measurements - Another reading will be done to confirm, but here are the findings so far:

Hole distances:
Hole 1: tee sign = 298 ft., GPS = 215 ft. (tee sign had pre-skatepark tee box measurement)
Hole 2: tee sign = 295 ft., GPS = 332 ft.
Hole 3: tee sign = 310 ft., GPS = 357 ft.
Hole 4: tee sign = 322 ft., GPS = 303 ft.
Hole 5: tee sign = 306 ft., GPS = 293 ft.
Hole 6: tee sign = 431 ft., GPS = 494 ft. (both tee and basket moved since tee sign made)
Hole 7: tee sign = 285 ft., GPS = 290 ft. (both tee and basket moved since tee sign made)
Hole 8: tee sign = 337 ft., GPS = 302 ft.
Hole 9: tee sign = 317 ft., GPS = 296 ft.

Note: GPS is accurate to +/- 13 ft.
#4 Tee Completed!
The new tee pad and box on #4 was completed tonight - after dark. Tee box page

While many of the group involved felt that we were close to done on Sunday night, Monday proved that we still had a considerable way to go. After making the remaining cuts on the railroad ties, they were leveled and put into place. Once they had been drilled and pinned into the hillside, the hole could be filled in with dirt and gravel and tapped down. A final layer of fine gravel was placed on top and the pad laid down over the smooth surface.

This is the first of what we hope will be many more improvements to this course, and based on the work involved and results of this project, we hope to see more interest and progress toward developing a Moraga Disc Golf Club to help bring these projects to life. Thanks to all involved for making this project such a success.

Thanks to the following:

Organizers & Sponsors:
Brian H., Scott F., Jon B. - for your donation of materials, manpower, and organization

Hard workers:
Mike, Gregg L., Dustin L., Greg R., Scotty, and all the rest of the players - who took turns shoveling, hauling, etc.

Special Thanks:
KP - who went above and beyond (see picture of him carrying a ridiculously heavy railroad tie by himself) - This project would not have been done without your help!
Progress continues on #4
The tee box on #4 is still a work in progress. Materials such as rock, gravel, and railroad ties were brought up to the site today, as the tee ground is almost ready to be leveled and filled in. Again it was a great day weather wise, and work (and disc golf) continued until dark in an effort to get as much done as possible.

Work begins on #4 tee
The work begins on the #4 tee box, as plans have been in the works to install a new rubber pad from Fly 18. A group of some local players begin digging out an area for the new tee box and pad at around noon. Digging and hauling of dirt continued for most of the day (between throws as it was a glorious day and few could refuse sneaking in a few holes), and by the end of the day a few ceremonial throws could be taken from the new box.

Volunteers needed on Sat. 2/11
A group of players are planning on working on the tee area for #6 this Saturday (2/11) from 11 am. to 1 pm. or until the work is completed. We are hoping to prepare the tee for the new tee pad, by marking and leveling the area and potentially installing the new pad. Anyone interested in helping should plan on being at the course anytime from 11 am. on. You can look for Scott, J.B., or Brian to help show you what is needed.

Thanks in advance for your help and we look forward to seeing you out at the course.
